An extraordinary ecological feature of the Anjarle littoral zone is its status as an annual sanctuary for female Olive Ridley turtles, which arrive to deposit their clutches. Anjarle village itself is picturesquely cradled at the foothills of an undulating ridge. Access from the upper elevation involves a scenic vehicular detour near Harnai village, winding down the hilltop to reveal the settlement below.
The topography is uniquely dual-natured: a placid, languid riverbed meanders on one flank of the village, whilst the dynamic sea cavorts with white-tipped breakers on the opposing side. Traditional Konkani residences, finished with classic tiled roofs, lie peacefully sheltered beneath the overarching fronds of mature coconut groves. High above, half-concealed within the dense foliage of the craggy hills, stands the revered sanctuary of Kadyavarcha Ganapati.
